Roo
After losing her grandma in 2021, one dog mom described life as feeling empty. Then Roo arrived, and everything shifted. What started as a source of comfort has grown into daily joy, deeper connection, and even a little bit of community. Roo’s mom shared her story with us, and it’s a beautiful reminder of why the human-dog bond matters so much. It’s also why products like Peony Celeste’s plant-based poop bags feel less like an afterthought and more like part of a life that actually feels good to live.
How has Roo’s presence made your life’s journey feel fuller and more meaningful?
I lost my grandma in 2021 due to COVID. Since losing her, life has felt empty. Roo has brought purpose back into my life and has brought so much happiness into my world. I love taking him to the park and seeing his face light up. He is such a social butterfly so taking him to dog parks and doggie events is such a highlight for us both. It has brought me out of my shell and I think we complement each other so well.
What’s a time when you felt Roo truly understood you and stood by you?
There has been many occasions when I start to overthink and feel anxious. When Roo tends to notice he will come to my side; as if he knows something’s bothering me. There’s been times where he will lick my hand or jump on my lap. I find it comforting because it brings me out of my mind and helps ground me.
In what little everyday ways does he show you that you’re never walking alone?
Seeing Roo’s excitement every time I come home from work makes everything worth it. He always greets me at the door with a toy while his body’s shaking uncontrollably. I’m on the verge of tears almost everyday seeing him because I’m so grateful to have such a happy, loving guy by my side.
Looking back on your time together, what moment best shows the depth of your bond?
When I first got Roo, I took some time off to get us situated. The first day back to work he got into the bathroom trashcan. I ended up taking him to the emergency room, and after that experience I feel we developed our bond and my paranoid began hahah. We love going on road trips and adventures together. The more we go on, the stronger our bond becomes. He gets so excited the minute I open my car door, he’s always ready to go!
What does having Roo walking beside you every day mean to you?
Because he is such a social butterfly, it has forced me to step out of my bubble. My heart melts seeing him playing with his friends, having the time of his life. Having Roo in my life means everything to me. He is the best protector a girl could ask for!
As someone who treasures the bond with Roo, how does supporting a small woman-owned brand that focuses on quality and care feel meaningful to your journey together?
We truly love supporting small businesses, especially women owned. The poop bags are not only cute in their design but they sturdy! Did I mention they are easy to tear, don’t rip and are oh soooo smooth to the touch. Finding community in the dog world has been special. It has brought me out of my comfort zone, and introduced us to some really great friends. Especially Misa, the owner of Peony Celeste. We love supporting her business and appreciate the intention behind her products.
